A Seat at the Table: Everything you ever wanted to know about tube feeding

This is a recorded workshop formatted into an on-demand workshop. 


What is it about? 

Tube feeding is an intervention used in almost every area of medicine: neonatology, pediatrics, geriatrics, obstetrics, surgery, behavioral health, and many more. Come learn from an Advanced Nutritional Support Dietician which patients are candidates for feeding tubes and why. In this webshop, we will cover the types of tubes that can be offered, what goes in them, and how patients and caregivers are taught to care for them. Live exercises will work on interpretation skills and vocabulary building so that you will never have to ask what a “tubbie” is or how decanting works. Our expert will walk you through every step and have you feeling like a pro in no time! 

Goals of the webshop

  • Become familiar with the different types of feeding tubes, the process of placing each type of feeding tube, the basics of feeding tube care, common formulas/formula types, and expected follow up
  • Recognize vocabulary and concepts related to feeding tubes and situate them in context
  • Improve interpretation-related skills that will be used in encounters involving feeding tubes
  • Build a glossary to help prepare for sessions or translations involving feeding tubes

Registration confirmation will include video link, quiz link, presentation slides and instructions on how to receive a certificate of attendance. This workshop will be offered through June 21st, 2026.

Steps on how to receive your certificate:

  1. Watch the recording (3.5 hours).
  2. Answer the quiz. 
  3. Receive a certificate of attendance within five business days.

You can pause and resume the video anytime as needed.

You need a passing grade of 80% for CEUs to be awarded. Answer a total of 30 questions in six places in this video. A passing score is 72 points or above. You can retake quiz as many as need.

Who is teaching? Sara Greenlee, MA, CT is a medical translator and interpreter who works both in-house and as a freelancer. She is an ATA certified translator (Spanish > English) and a CCHI certified interpreter (CHI™-Spanish). She also holds a master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). Her career in medical interpretation began at Stanford Children’s Hospital in California and continued at Strong Memorial Hospital and its pediatric counterpart, Golisano Children’s Hospital, in New York. She currently works at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Southern California.

Megan Greenlee RD, CDN joined the URMC Golisano Children’s Hospital medical team in 2019 and she is a part of the department of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Hepatology. She started her career at one end of the nutrition spectrum as a pastry chef and graduated with an Associate’s of Applied Science from Paul Smith’s College. She then transferred to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) as she became fascinated with the science behind food. She graduated from RIT with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition Management and completed her dietetic internship at the West Virginia University Medical Center at Ruby Memorial Hospital in 2016. She then returned to Rochester, NY and worked as a long term care and neurobehavioral dietitian as well as a pediatric outpatient dietitian for Rochester Regional Health. After 3 years with RRH, she jumped at the opportunity to join the Pediatric Advanced Nutrition Support clinic at Golisano Children’s Hospital and have fallen in love with pediatric medicine.
