NOTIS’s Community Interpreters Division (CID) presents:
HIPAA-HIPAA Hurray for Confidentiality!
Presented by Cindy Roat
What is HIPAA? Test your knowledge!
HIPAA stands for ---- (choose one):
- The female of a species of large gray mammals that live in rivers in sub-Saharan Africa.
- The Health Information Privacy Administration Act.
- The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
- Highly Intricate Paperwork in Abundant Amounts.
Not sure? Join us for this humorous two-hour webinar to learn all about HIPAA, that 1996 federal law that governs the way everyone in health care (including interpreters and translators) handles private health information. As confidentiality is a critical element of our Code of Ethics, and as HIPAA is the law of the land regarding confidentiality in health care, it behooves us all to know this information. Whether a novice interpreter or seasoned professional, this webinar will bring you up to speed on exactly what HIPAA – and confidentiality – means.
